Case of Transformer EquipmentTransporting Large Transformers

Transportation via truck and type-240 schnable trailer

Projects Details

In this case, we transported a 155-ton transformer over a distance of 430 kilometers. We used the company's "Shiki 801" rail transporting car to transport the equipment to the nearest station, and then transferred it to a type-240 schnable trailer. From there, we set up temporary bridges with "over-bridge reinforcements" built over standard road bridges, as well as "under-bridge reinforcements" for support from below to facilitate transportation on public roads.

Transporting Large Transformers

Key Project Details and Requirements

1. Large transformer hauling was possible using a unique company-owned oversized cargo transporting car, the Shiki 801.

The Shiki 801 was capable of fitting the massive transformer and covered 430 kilometers of the journey via rail. By starting the trip on standard roads from the nearest station, the trailer distance was kept short, making transportation possible.

2. Bridge reinforcement work was completed in a limited time

We reinforced bridges in two locations to make transport possible. One was "over-bridge reinforcement," while the second was "under-bridge reinforcement" of the trusses. Generally, under-bridge reinforcements are set before work and removed after, while in this case they were deployed from 17:00 the date of transportation until 06:00 the next morning, as they had to be removed as soon as the trailer passed. Over 30 team members worked to implement precise plans on this tight schedule, completing everything on time.

3. Transportation work was carried out in compliance with all transportation laws

We had to stop traffic temporarily on the road in order to carry out over-bridge reinforcement and move the trailer through the area slowly. Toward that end, we gave advance notice via road signage. We also engaged in public awareness activities to inform the relevant organizations of traffic restrictions and requested detours. On the day of the work, 45 traffic directors helped to direct detours on the road, and transportation went smoothly, fully complying with all transportation regulations.
